i thought it would be 160+50x

since its taking into account the first two nights and then you would just plug in the extra number of nights into x

This is a piecewise function. That means that it has two distinct parts, where the change occurs at 2. For the b part of the piecewise function, since 2 days first cost 80, you would add 160, then from there a change of 50 with respect to x. So as you say, 160+50x for b.
