finding the zero algebraically for f(x)=2x^4-2x^2-40 helpp??

hartnn (hartnn):

put x^2 = y u get a quadratic in y. solve it to get 2 values of y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats not giving me a zero though, like x=2 or x=0..

hartnn (hartnn):

firstly it will give 2 values of y, did u get those?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i just got x=y

hartnn (hartnn):

O.o how??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

never mind. well then maybe sq. root of + or - y?

hartnn (hartnn):

yes, x= + or -sq. root of y but for hat u need to find y first

hartnn (hartnn):

*that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you

hartnn (hartnn):

ask if u need further help in this question

OpenStudy (anonymous):
