A circle has a radius of 20 cm. = 3.14 What is its perimeter (to the nearest tenth)? ____ cm What is its area (to the nearest tenth)?____ cm2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well the formula for perimeter is \[2(\pi)(r)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So just plug in the radius for r and you've got that part

OpenStudy (anonymous):

125.60

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but it says to the nearest tenth 125???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No that would mean round so that there is one number after the decimal. Also did you use 3.14 or the pi button on a calculator? I got 125.7 which is a little more accurate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3.14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright, if you have a pi button on your calculator you should use that, itll always give you a more accurate answer. I used it and got 125.66, round that to the nearest tenth and you get 125.7cm for the perimeter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

will you look with me at another problem plz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The second part? The area?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got for are 1,256.0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Again I used the pi button and got 1256.63 which to the nearest tenth is 1256.6cm^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes that's what i just got after using pi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright so you got it now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thank you can you look at one more with me im gonna post it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright just post it as a new question and ill try it
