What is the calibration of 372mm, if this number is written with the correct precision?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think this requires more information

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Calibration : The smallest unit on a measuring device. Precision: Half of the calibration. Ex. If the calibration of a ruler equals 1mm, the precision is 0.5mm. Now, if 372mm is written in terms of precision, what is it's calibration?

If the precision is good down to the ones digit, then calibration = twice that... so I think it would be calibrated to within 2mm, which usually is expressed as plus or minus 1 mm. I'm not 100% sure of this, but that's what I recall.

So, for example, the real answer could be 373 mm or 371 mm... you measured it at 372 mm and your device is calibrated to within plus or minus 1 mm.
