Why Zero Is A Special Number ?

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

@estudier @Callisto @.Sam. @ganeshie8 @Mikael @mathslover any idea about this ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's a Special Number?

mathslover (mathslover):

Good question estudier, @jiteshmeghwal9 in what sense?

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

It has some kind of spaciality @estudier

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

speciality *

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

& @mathslover

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Special how?

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

sir ! not so information about this :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is the additive entity.

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

i ask this question to get the right answer :)

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

I m very innocent ^_^ .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not positive, not negative

mathslover (mathslover):

lol are you talking about any news in hindi news paper? @jiteshmeghwal9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not prime not composite

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0! = 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You cannot divide by 0

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

' @mathslover Bhaiya mere ghar mein akhbar hi nahin aata .'

mathslover (mathslover):

haha fir to dimaag lagana padhega mujhe :(

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

Hindi toh bahut door ki baat hai

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

Zero is technically not a number, but it is special because it allows several things to be done with math that could not be done without it. If zero represents nothing, negative integers can be used to express quantities less than nothing. Also, our number system is based on ten, and the zero to the right of a one means ten and no more. A two and a zero mean twenty and no more, and on and on. @jiteshmeghwal9 ok is it clear??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

By itself zero does not have any value but when placed after another digit it increases the value of that digit 10 folds, 100 folds etc. depending on how many zeros are placed after the digit........

mathslover (mathslover):

@mayankdevnani please mention the link : http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_special_about_the_number_zero

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

well @estudier & others have given many specialties :)

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

oh!! sry...

mathslover (mathslover):

So one from my side : \[\large{a^0=1}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.siam.org/pdf/news/669.pdf An entire paper on it.

mathslover (mathslover):

\[\large{a*0 = 0 }\] \[\large{a/0 = intermediate}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Zeroth order logic

mathslover (mathslover):

7.000000 has no value but 700000000 has a value.

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

Ok ! total conclusion ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Infinity's twin???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I blame the parents....

mathslover (mathslover):

wait m typing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Zero (as pointed above) has several algebraic meanings of extraordinary nature 1)Neutral to addition 2)annihilating to multiplication I should add several ANALYSIS specials 1) Infintisemal calculus in some sense is ALL AROUND ZERO 2) Infinity is the other compactification of real line (kind of zero)

mathslover (mathslover):

Here we go: \[\huge{\color{blue}{\textbf{I}}\color{green}{\mathbb{N}}\color{grey}{\mathsf{D}}\color{orange}{\mathsf{I}}\color{brown}{\text{A}}}\]

mathslover (mathslover):

India gave the number zero, that's the specialty . :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Analysts live in 0,1 (it's the only place that will take them)

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

my conclusion is that it doesn't have a value but this makes other values.

mathslover (mathslover):

mentioned above by me : 7.000000 and 70000 , spot the difference.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0 in binary is 0000

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

\[\Huge{\color{gold}{\star \star \star}\color{red}{\cal{I}\color{green}{N}\color{blue}{D}\color{purple}{I}\color{Violet}{A}}}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Crore - 10000 = that

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

How is my \(\Huge{\color{Red}{LaTeX}}\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

too loud, man, too loud

mathslover (mathslover):

better than mine :)

OpenStudy (jiteshmeghwal9):

Thanx !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It makes number system so simple and meaningful.
