Christian baptist
me too! Can you name the 12?
There were 12 chosen Apostles and many disciples (truly devout followers). As others have alluded, the names on the books in the New Testament are not necessarily the authors. In some cases, the books may have come from an oral tradtion of the church started by that or another of the Apostles after Jesus' departure. In the case of at least John, I am aware, authorship is not truly known but has been assumed to be John. While Judas hung himself after betraying Jesus, the following passages tell you what happened to Judas: John 21:20-23, Matthew 26:17-25, Mark 14:12-20, Luke 22:7-20. Judas was apparently also resurrected (the description of the person in John 21:20-23 is Judas, read the cross references) and so a book by him may have been written. He may even been the author of the book we call John. The book of Mary Magdalene, which the Catholic Church rejected for inclusion in New Testament and which I believe belongs in the New Testament (while I believe the books of Paul should be removed), is avaible for reading, though several pages of the manuscript disappeared. And others have given various reasons for the exclusion or absence of other books. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John do have places where they contradict one another, three I have noticed: in accounts of Jesus' lineage (both also traced through Joseph who was not his father), in conflicting and incompatible details of events surrounding the Resurrection, and in John the Baptist denying he is Elijah and Jesus saying John the Baptist was the reincarnation of Elijah. It would take a much longer answer to give reasons for why these contradictions might be, and though they may not all be sinister, Revelation, the last book of the New Testament, ends with a warning against anyone who would change anything in the book so we know that God did not protect it from corruption and we also know that those working for the devil do not listen to warnings about damnation. The point for this question: not one of the four books is in contradiction with Thomas saying that Jesus was not God. In not one of these four books does Jesus say that he was God, but rather makes repeated statements making himself distinct from God. The Catholic Church declared him God 300-some years after his departure, but his words still in the New Testament say otherwise. Apparently, many Christians do not read these books or read with blinders on and ignore anything that is said that does not agree with their false beliefs. In these four books, he also makes repeated statements that the only way to heaven is to repent, reform, and walk a narrow road of morality, but again millions of Christians believe a lie of the devil that they will go automatically to heaven despite that Jesus says otherwise in the New Testament. Rather than get into the disputed books, I go with what is offered, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Revelation, and by reading them carefully I come to understand true Christianity to be much different than from what most Christian churches are teaching.
