What are the answers to these using the quadratic formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. Solve 3x2 + 4x = 2 2. If a baseball player hits a baseball from 4 feet off the ground with an initial velocity of 64 feet per second, how long will it take the baseball to hit the ground? Use the equation h = –16t2 + 64t + 4. 3. Solve x2 + 9x + 9 = 0. 4. Solve 2x2 = 14x + 20.

Whoops, the variables with a two after them is the exponent. Forgot to put a ^.

1. 3x^2 +4x =2 3x^2 +4x -2 =0 so do you know how you can solving a quadratic equation ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know to plug in the numbers using the quadratic formula, but it gets confusing when I need to simplify the square root.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Heres what I have so far: -4 plus or minue the square root or -16 all over 6. And I don't even think that's right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean, -4 plus or minus the square root of -16 all over 6

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so what you like saying wann to be formula of discriminant and what have formula D=sqrt(b^2 -4ac) yes ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so and after this you can writing that these roots will be x_1,2 = (-b +/- sqrt(b^2 -4ac)))/2a you have thought the same ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't understand? I don't think I've learned anything about discriminants...

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so can you write it here ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

ok what you have wrote before little up so can you rewrite it here how you have got it from what formula ?
