I need help with a word problem and an evalutaing expression problem.
evaluate the expression y^2+w for y=-12 and w=-8
(-12)^2 + (-8) 144 - 8 136
Thanks...define a variable, write an equation,to solve and answer the question.the sum of three consecutive odd integers is 195.Find the integer.
srry idk those problems
(x) + (x+1) + (x+2) = 195 3x + 3 = 195 3x = 192 x = 64
ohh wait no odd my fault
(x) + (x+2) + (x+4) = 195 3x + 6 = 195 3x=189 x=63
sorry the first one was just for 3 consecutive integers, the bottom one is for odd integers.
thanks.. how about this one.. Define a variable write an equation and answer it. The tickets for a highschool musical are $6 for adults and $4 for students.A total of 310 tickets were sold.A total income of $1660 came in from ticket sales. How many adult tickets and student tickets were sold?
That is for a system of equations. let a= adults, and s=students 6a + 4s = 1660 and a + s = 310
solve the system by substitution where a = 310 - s 6(310-s) + 4s = 1660 1860 - 6s + 4s = 1660 1860 - 2s = 1660 -2s = -200 s = 100
then put s back into the original equation. a + 100 = 310 a = 210
Thanks a bunch!
you're welcome :-)
