x^2+33x+2 is this prime? I need to factor

OpenStudy (jackellyn):

Well you need to find 2 numbers that when multiplied give you 2 and when added or subtracted give you 33, is that possible?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont think it is, thats why i assumed it was prime

OpenStudy (jackellyn):

If it can't be factored, it is prime but you could always do the quadratic formula.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

factors are 1, 33 3, 11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, the instructor wants factored, or is it prime, does not want quadratic formula I dont think.

OpenStudy (jackellyn):

So then it is prime. because neither of those factors multiply to two or add/subtract to 33

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for your help, i thought I was right but had to check.

OpenStudy (jackellyn):

Also, helpful hint, when you look for the factors it would be for 2 not 33.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, you are right. I just posted wrong, had it right in my head.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks again
