Help with easy/quick graph of piecewise defined function..can't figure out what formula to use for the middle one...so far its not -1 or -x..any ideas?!?! http://i.imgur.com/4cqUt.jpg

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know y = mx + b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know how to figure out the value of m from the graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, i did that and I got m = -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and what is b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i figured, answer would be -x because there was no b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hm. i1 is the slope of the line. This graph actually makes it easy because what does b stand for in y = mx + b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in words

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y intercept

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and where does the graph "intercept" y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm would it be -x+2? XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yippee!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol wow i feel so stupiddd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope. its only easy after you know. before you know is when its hard.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for the help!

danada.
