Compute the area of the following triangle. (Express answer in cm²) b = 20 in. h = 4 in. a =_____cm2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 40 inches

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

convert to cm. Is this where you are stuck?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

area of triangle = half multiplied by base multiplied by height for your triangle area is = 20 x 4/ 2 = 40 square inches. and 1 inch = 2.5 cm 1 square inches = 6.25 square cm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2.54cm = 1in (if you want to be picky)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So just multiply 40 with 6.25 to get in square cm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:P dont wanna be

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 40x2.54=89.60

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then I hope the .04^2 that is omitted will not give you the wrong answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no multiply by 2.5 x 2.5 to get square cm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is less than 4% error so its valid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

250

when doing conversions. write down your units and cancel them out as you go. If your anser doesn't match the required units there has been a mistake. Book keeping is important during conversions. very helpful.... @suvesh253 I hope you are not an engineer. jk

ok

I am why? I use calculators :P
