Solve for x: 4x - 2 > 6x + 8 4x-2>6x+8 -10>-2x 5>x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this right

hero (hero):

Try doing it this way: 4x - 2> 6x + 8 -8 - 2 > 6x - 4x -10 > 2x -10/2 > x -5 > x The strategy is to avoid having to divide by a negative. You do not want to end up having to divide by a negative, because then you'll have to switch signs and sometimes, you might forget to do it. So in order to avoid doing that, make sure the expression with x is always positive.

hero (hero):

@vacuole, your steps are inconsistent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you should transfer everything to the left side

hero (hero):

I've already posted my steps and they are correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):
