In a certain year, the amount A of garbage in pounds produced after t days by an average household is given by A=5.5t. a) graph the equation b) How many days did it take for the average household to produce 200 pounds of garbage?

What do you need help with? Do you know how to plot points on a graph? Do you know how to isolate a variable?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am lost trying to find variables for the graph.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so for graphing an equation the first thing you wanna do is find some points to graph. We can do this by filling in a T chart.|dw:1349027515022:dw| Would you be able to fill in the A column?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When you've done that you want to plot those points in a graph. Your axis this time will not be x and y, but instead t and A.|dw:1349027629084:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, that is exactly what I done but it didn't feel like the right answer to plotting on the graph. :D

One way you can check is with wolframalpha. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=A%3D5.5t It should look a bit similar, but I think you did it right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you need help with part b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess because I fail to substitute x-y for a-t.. and yea the second part really has me stumped also.
