Factor (show steps too please): (x-1)(x+2)^2 - (x-1)^2(x+2)

hartnn (hartnn):

factor out (x-1)(x+2) what u get ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well the answer in the book is 3(x-1)(x+2) but I don't know how to get that.

OpenStudy (jwheele1):

(x-1)(x+2)^2 - (x-1)^2(x+2) first look at your exponents... you have two that are squared...how woudl you write that out without the squared?
