Solve 2(4-1/2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just use PEMDAS while working left to right on opposite functions. Like if you encounter Multiplication and division in a problem just do whatever is in the most left.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know how to use the PEMDAS. i JUST don't know HOW to do fractions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 4 - one half or divide by 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P(arentheses) (4-1/2))= 3.5 The 2 only applies to the 1 since its only under the 1 Multiplication Now you have 2(3.5) so: 2(3.5)=7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If it was 2((4-1)/2) then its a whole new beast.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does that make sense to you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YES
