ah I see. I needed to put the word = '' after the else: statement. Now it makes sense to me. Thanks.

Those of you who have already started the book need to remember that many are only doing this online, and it hasn't even started yet. It is therefore pointless posting questions online as you will only intimidate people who are not ploughing forward at the same pace. Something I would have thought would have been pretty obvious.

@minimallinux this 'forum' is for the 2008, 2011 sc and the edx classes i would think any and all questions/discussions on the topic are appropriate and shouldn't be limited to the pace of the edx course

@bwCA I wasn't aware there were other classes in the forum, so obviously we should pick out the topics we may be familiar with dependent on the current level of study, OK.
