the number of gallons of bottled water N consumed by a person in one year is approximated by N=0.773t + 8.398, where T is the number of years since 1971. predict the number of gallons consumed by a person in 1972.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.773(1972)+8.398= number of water battles consumed in 1972 I think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would it not be the same considering T is 1...It is since 1971

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was thinking that too, I'm not sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its a tricky question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im having trouble with it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

N= .773(1 or number of years since 1971) + 8.398 which would be 9.171 gallons

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow thats quite a coincidence..... 9.171 since 1971 :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mhmm which would be one year since 1971

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer isn't 9.171?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If T is the number of years since 1971 and the year is 1972 ..would that not be subtraction? 1972- 1971 which equals 1.... .773(1) = .773 then add that to 8.398 ..which is 9.171
