To recognize limits, just look at what value y is taking on as x approaches the value under the limit sign. Some of the questions ask for right and left side limits so x+ is "from the right" and x- is "from the left".

i get that part, but i dont know how to find the numbers. i did it once and it did not work

Scan for the x's left to right. Scan for the y's vertically. Any more than that is just giving you the answer.
