I went to Python.org and downloaded the python27 version for my 64 bit intel laptop. It has been working very well and I expect to continue using this version. I have tried and tested a few commands and small programs, as well as scripts, and it is working well for me.... remember to use raw_input("Hit Enter to close") at the end of each of script files to keep the python command window open to see the results of your scripts.... found that out after it kept vanishing on me and did a lot of research on how to keep it open.... ;-)
