|x+1| +5 < 7

x = \[\le 0\] I think

If x \[\ge 1\] , it would be \[\ge 7\]

|x+1| +5 < 7 in any absolute value equation/inequality, you'll need to isolate the absolute value: |x+1| +5 - 5 < 7 -5 subtract 5 from both sides |x+1| < 2 from here, you'll need to solve two inequalities that make up the solution set to the inequality equation: x+1 < 2 AND x+1 > -2 notice the "AND" conjunction.... your solution set will be the intersection of these two sets.
