Hi got email today about the start of the 6.00 course ..where do i download the python program? can someone shed some light?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can download it here http://www.python.org/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks a lot steve ... this site has version 3 is that the version we will be using throughout the course ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You want to download the 2.x.x version. The sample code will not work properly with 3 and above.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have both installed personally because I need 3.0 for a different course.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks guys 2.7 it is

The OCW site courses also say we have to download the IDLE development environment. http://docs.python.org/library/idle.html I'm not sure about this though. If all the exercises will be done on Codeacademy, maybe we don't need it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As far as I know idle comes with all releases of python although I have not personally tried all them.

I know people answered this question already but please if possible, tell me what languages (programming) of course, did you learn first.
