I have a question about question 4 from the first quiz from the 2011 class - wouldn't it return the 'words' with the letters in alphabetical order? And if not, please explain to me why not? I assume it has something to do with pointers and scope, but from my understanding you're appending the ordered letters of the word and not the word.

yep that solution that they offerred seems to be flawed - every item in the list would be the same, the sorted letters, and you really wouldn't know what actual words are in wordList. maybe better to do something like http://pastie.org/4859031
