In analog measurements, the significant digits report the limit of precision. What does the last significant digit (on the right) represent?

OpenStudy (blues):

The most precise detail you have about the measurement. It sort of represents the limit or extent of precision in the measurement. For example, if you measured the temperature and found it to be 72.2 degrees, it would be a less detailed than if you got a different thermometer and found it to be 72.200000 degrees - even though the measured temp is the same.
