what is mitosis
what
type of cell division which results in daughter cells of same type (to parent)
A type of cell division that results in two daughter cells each having the same number and kind of chromosomes as the parent nucleus, typical of ordinary tissue growth
~Mitosis is the process of nuclear cell division. ~During division, nucleus of cell divides, resulting in 2sets of identical chromosomes, or organized DNA proteins. ~process is almost always accompanied by a process called cytokinesis, in which the rest of the cell divides, leading to two completely separate cells, called daughter cells. ~four phases in the process: prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase. There are a number of reasons for this process, including reproduction and replacement of cells, and problems with it can seriously damage or kill cells.
