5(5t-2)= -35

OpenStudy (carson889):

t = -1

OpenStudy (carson889):

The idea follows what you do to one side you must do to the other. Thus we can divide both sides by 5, which will give us: (5t-2) = -7. Then if we lose the brackets around (5t-2) it looks like: 5t -2 = -7. Next we want to get rid of the -2 on the left hand side so we add 2 to both sides: 5t - 2 + 2 = -7 + 2. Which equals 5t = -5. Divide both sides by 5 to isolate for t and you will see that t = -1
