MITX is a type of MOOC. MOOC is the teaching strategy whereas MITX is the school that implements it.

MOOC stands for Masive Open Online Course. There are a number of different providers of MOOCs, including edX/MITx, Coursera and Udacity. They're all the rage right now. A lot of colleges and universities are trying to get in on the MOOC action, so to speak.
