(y+3)^1/2 = 2y^1/4 this question has me totally stumped

OpenStudy (mertsj):

What are you supposed to do with it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find what y is equal to

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Raise both sides to the 4th power.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did that opened parenthesis and got y^2 + 6y + 9 = 2y then y^2 + 4y + 9 = 0 now is where i can confused if i have done anything wrong since technically the answer should be in radical form right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
