how do i find the area of a geometric figure? it is a square with a width of 10 and height of 12. but there is also a triangle right on top of it? its height is 6. i cant remeber the formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the formula for the area of a square is base x height the formula for the triangle is 1/2base x height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh so i take 5 x 6? cuz ten is the base and six is the height?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i wwrite the answer though because they are two different shapes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you take the area of the square 10x12 and just add it to the area of the triangle 5x6
