suggest a possible way to represent negative numbers in binary....HELP PLZ:)

OpenStudy (espex):

A simple way would be to use a flag bit to denote a negative value.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, i mean is there a way to write it down... ex) 11 written in binary is:1011. how do you write -11?

OpenStudy (espex):

Do you only have a 4bit number representation?

OpenStudy (espex):

In other words, with 8 bits, a negative 11 would be 10001011

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats so cool. who came up with this?!

OpenStudy (espex):

That I do not know. Probably someone at IBM. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):
