suppose you have $55 in your bank account. You start saving $10 each week. Your friend has $20 in her account and is saving $15 each week. When will you and your friend have the same amount of money in your accounts?

OpenStudy (ny,ny):

i want to know how i can solve this by graphing it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Set up two equations y=10x+55 and y=15x+20 put both of those in your graphing calculator or whatever you're using and the x coordinate of where they intersect is the week that you will have the same amount as the friend

OpenStudy (ny,ny):

i have a small piece of graph paper. how can i fit the lines onto the page? the intercepts are really big.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not sure what to say, they dont cross until about (7, 125)

OpenStudy (ny,ny):

grrrr. thanks for your help i'll do the best i can.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright. You could solve as a system of equations. And you'll get the 7th week
