I really think it's A. 

It's hard enough for a rainforest to regrow, after it's been cleared. 

But if we used that land for farming, after the forest had been cleared, all the nutrients in the soil would eventually be sucked out. And the land wouldn't be able to produce the trees that it once had, ever again.
