OpenStudy (goformit100):

What is the equation of straight line ? Give its proof too

Parth (parthkohli):

The equation of a straight line is \(\rm y = mx + b\). I don't know of the proof, but I do know about the intuition.

OpenStudy (goformit100):

Sorry @ParthKohli its not it ... its the slope intercept form .... whats the original equation

OpenStudy (amorfide):

y-y1=m(x-x1) that equation?

OpenStudy (amorfide):

y=x ? i dont know any other equations for straight lines :P

Parth (parthkohli):

Oh, you may rearrange it into different forms.\[\textbf{point slope: }\rm y - y_1 = m(x - x_1) \]

Parth (parthkohli):

Do you need the standard form?\[\rm Ax + By = C\]

OpenStudy (goformit100):

yes i need the stand form .... plz tell me

Parth (parthkohli):

Yes, that was the standard form!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the standard form vs whatever else?

Parth (parthkohli):

Note that \(\rm A,B,C\) are constants.

OpenStudy (goformit100):

THANKS BRO

Parth (parthkohli):

You're welcome!
