Answer to the question "How can one become a moderator?"

Me: The answer is simply that you act as a good user, and wait patiently for administration to notice and need your help. There is no application, and no moderator I know of has ever asked to become one.

Shadowfiend adds: It's not just about maturity, it's also about need and alignment with our goals for the community. When we need more moderators, we look for people who are great participants of the community and who understand the way the community should grow.
