PLEASE HELP! The length of a rectangular playing field is 7 yards longer than triple the width. If the perimeter of the rectangular playing field is 438 yards, what are it's dimensions in yards?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You get perimeter by adding all the sides, so: 3w+7+3w+7+w+w=438 solve for w

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That will be your width, then plug it into 3w+7 to get the length

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much! You are a lifesaver!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what did you get for width?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 53?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep so the length is expressed as 3w+7 put 53 in for w and youll get the length

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the length is 166...I got it! Thank you!
