Whats the law of detachment and law of syllogism for this conditional: " If you shop at Walmart, then you will save money and live better"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is the answer for law of syllogism this - if you will save money and live better then you are happy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that correct..lol ^^^^

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

wait noooo you gotta end of saying If you shop in walmart then you are happy

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

Right the law goes as follow \( p \to q\) and \(q \to r\) sooo \( p \to r\)

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

So if you shop at walmart then you will save money and live better. If you will save money and live better then you will be happy So If you shop at walmart then you will be happy

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

The law of detachment is If p→q and p is true, then q is true. If you shop at walmart then you will save money and live better So if you shop at walmart is true then the second half of the statement is true which is then you will save money and live a better life

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the law of detachment is true but wouldnt that be rewriting the conditional

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

yup I think its just wants u to show how the law of detachment comes into play

thank you!
