Ambassadors are greeters for open study. Their purposes is to welcome new users and help them understand how the site works. Since they presumably have some degree of trust with that title, when they make an abuse report it is likely to get a bit more attention from moderators. That, however, is not really a part of their duties.

Ambassadors do not have the ability to issue warnings or ban people like moderators. They are chosen by admin every so often, and there is an application process which is offered periodically. I'm not sure when the last round of ambassadors was chosen. or when the next will be, but I'm sure it will be advertised in some way.

I don't think I can name all the ambassadors off the top of my head, but they are the users who have a purple letter A next tot their name.   Ash and  Saifoo.Khan are the only two I can think of right now. Those of you know know more ambassadors usernames feel free to help me complete the list.

I'd like to state a jokey answer, if I may (I don't exactly mean so, but it's just a cool rip-off):
- Ambassadors are people who carry an "A" with their name.
- Their purpose is to carry the burden of "A" with their name.
