can a molecule have two central atoms?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

it can, if it's a molecule like acetylene, C2H2. There's a triple bond connecting the 2 carbon atoms, and each carbon has a hydrogen attached to it on the other side. There are 4 total atoms, but 2 of them could be considered the "central atom"
