HELP ME!!
with what? :)
It says for me to graph the solution set of the inequalitiles: \[x+2y \ge 36 and 3x+4y \ge 84\]
how do i solve this?
can you draw first x+2y ?
so i don't really have to do any work?
what i mean is i don't have to show any work just graph it? how do i do that?
x + 2y >36 3x+4y>84 Multiply the first by -2 -2(x+2y>36) -2x-4y>-72 Add 3x+4y>84 -2x + 3x - 4y +4y > -72 + 84 Combine like terms x>12 where > is greater or equal to Substitute x 12 + 2y > 36 2y >24 y>12 wher > is greater or equal to
i think you left out the equal sign in both the problems at the top.
x+2y>=36 and 3x+4y>=84 2y>=36-x 4y>=84-3x y>=(36-x)/2 y>=(84-3x)/4 y>=18- x/2 and y>=21- (3/4)/4
Just make it clear: x+2y ≥36 -> y ≥ (-x/2 )+ 18 3x+4y ≥ 84 -> y ≥ (-3x/4 ) + 21
Hint: intersection point ( 12, 12), intercept points ( 0, 18) and ( 0, 21)
y>=18- x/2 and y>=21- (3/4)/4 when x=0 when x=0,y>=21 y>=18 also when y=0, x>-36 and when y=0,x>=84/3=28
@acegirl Questions?
ooopps sorry that is y=0, x>=36
@Chlorophyll do i shad above the line or below the line?
okay thanks. also am i suppose to have 1 line or 2 lines? im just lost, sorry.
Yep, just follow @mark_o.'s instruction :)
shade above the line..on one line
2 regions generate from 2 inequalities!
Then the result is the overlap of both regions!
ok thanks i got it. sorry for all the trouble.
