Eli took the fleet of 8 vans for oil changes. All of the vans needed windshield wipers which cost $24 per van. The total bill was $432. Write an equation to find out what each oil change cost. Solve the equation.

We can define the cost of an oil change as x. So, we have 8x. There is also the added cost of $24 for each van's wipers. This gives us 8x+24(8)=432 for the total cost. Using the distributive property, this becomes 8x+192=432. Afterwards, subtract 192. 8x=240 Divide by 8: x=30 Each oil change therefore costed $30.
