How can you be direct as possible on an English 100 paper and stay active with the sentences?

OpenStudy (egenriether):

Active voice in a sentence means putting the thing doing the action before the action itself. For example the sentence, "The internet is used by millions of people." is passive voice. The active voice version of the sentence would be, "Millions of people use the internet." Active voice is usually preferred in writing, however in scientific papers for example, the passive voice is used.

OpenStudy (egenriether):

So my advice is to check your sentences and make sure you are not falling into passive voice, its easy to do if you're not careful.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There's nothing wrong with using the passive voice. If you're writing about the recipient of the action, then use passive voice to place the recipient in the subject spot. Unless, of course, your instructor has explicitly stated not to do so.
