I'm having trouble with everything today..sigh I'm trying to type 6-11 into an Excel cell and it keeps changing that to June 11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because it is formatted as date , remove it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

<---illiterate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right click that cell

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tell me what shows up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

format cell insert function hyperlink

OpenStudy (anonymous):

go to format cell

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just gives me font options and effects

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bunch of tabs should show up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

should I get rid of the d-mmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think that's what's giving me the date

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you find it out yet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me check if it worked

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@MathSofiya

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what version of excel u have?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

14.2.3 2011 for mac

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK, I have 2012 but i think its the same just a moment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hm, just a moment what exactly are you trying to do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did you get rid of date format?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm trying to write my class limits for my frequency table (statistics) which I have as 0-5 6-11 12-17 18-23 24-29

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i found a workaround, does your keyboard have a number pad?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what kind of computer is it? a macbook?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Air

OpenStudy (anonymous):

change format from date to number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it should have push button saying currency date number etc...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes I see that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

=(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok @MathSofiya copy the character BETWEEN the quotes " " it looks like a space but if you paste it before the numbers they won't turn into a date!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did it work?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm sorry...which quotes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the quote marks after the word quotes =^.^=

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where in excel?...sorry I feel soo silly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm laughing out loud now...I is this a foreign language to me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK before you type the numbers, type the invisible character " " <-- between these quotes (select between them and copy)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I GOT IT! YAAAAY!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you sir!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hooray!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

31 mins LOL....Hey, I can only get less computer illiterate from here on
