When you cut down a tree carbon dioxide is released into the air. trees take in carbon dioxide which decreases amount or carbon dioxide in the air. when i tree realeases its carbon dioxide it puts back that carbon dioxide therefore decreasing the amount removed...

In short, trees act as atmosphere scrubbers taking in carbon dioxide and creating oxygen. So by cutting down trees via mass deforestation, there are less of them to help reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
