Solve the inequality 4x + 5 < 2x - 11 x > 8 x > -8 x < 8 x < -8 @AriPotta

OpenStudy (aripotta):

what do you think we have to do first to get x by itself on one side?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plus 11 each side

OpenStudy (aripotta):

yea, that could work :) personally, i would subtract 5, but let's add 11

OpenStudy (aripotta):

what do you get after adding 11 to both sides?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you woul dhave 4x+16<2x damnit i picked a harder way and do -4 each side youd get -2 then divide 16 by -2 and get 8 i think

OpenStudy (aripotta):

not really

OpenStudy (aripotta):

what do you think the answer is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract 2x from both sides.then subtract 5 from both sides.

OpenStudy (aripotta):

no :/ can you show me your work?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

so i can see what you did wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is d did u get it right?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i got d too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x+5<2x-11 4x-2x<-11-5 2x<-16 x<-16/2 x<-8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d yeah i gotit

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u understand the process though?
