They negated them.  Is that what you mean?  Or maybe you mean something like "just because the Earth looks flat, doesn't mean we can conclude it is flat until we've tried to observe that it really is"?

That is exactly what you wrote in your initial question!  The simple answer is that by observing the earth is round, the conclusions that the earth was flat were shown to be wrong.  If that's not what you mean, please reword the question, I'd be happy to help!
