Find dy/dx by implicit differentiation. (x^3)(y^3)-y=x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer I get is ((x- (3x^2)(y^3))/((3y^2)(x^3)-1), but my book says its wrong.

hartnn (hartnn):

is it (1-3x^2y^3)/(3y^2x^3-1) ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really close, but the derivative of the x on the right is 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh! I forgot about taking the derivative of the x! >.< thanks!

hartnn (hartnn):

yup, just that, d/dx (x) =1 on right.

You're welcome. <high five @hartnn>
