. Solve this inequality: j/4 – 8 < 4. A. j > –12 B. j < 12 C. j < 48 D. j < –48

OpenStudy (anonymous):

j/4 - 8 < 4 (j - 32)/ 4 <4 j - 32 < 16 j < 16 + 32 j < 48

OpenStudy (richyw):

\[\frac{j}{4}-8<4\]\[\frac{j}{4}<12\]\[j<48\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why did you multiply the 4 from the left side to the 12?

OpenStudy (richyw):

to isolate j

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well you don't want to divide because its already in a division problem so you ahve to multiply to isolate j

OpenStudy (anonymous):
