Where is the 'run' function in IDLE and how can we delete text?

The run function is will appear if on IDLE you go to File-->New... in the editor that appears you will have the Run menu!

When you open idle you are in what is known as the 'shell'. Cammands entered here are processed as you enter them. Choosing File, New Window as said above will open the editor where you can type in code and save the file. This is also where you will find th run command. If you do not see and menu bar, file etc then you are likely in the command line python and not idle.
