Why do we use the terms like point, line without defining them?

If someone who doesn't know anything about a point asks "What is a point" ? What would be your reply?

This is a kind of chicken and egg thing. You will have to make up your own mind, I think.

Some people would say that these terms are in fact defined while others would say that this leads to circularity because you have no prior defined terms with which to define them:-)
