how to you make a line graph ?! i need help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in excell or origin or where and regarding what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i dont know how to make one on excel i was going to just draw one but im confused on how to

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so you have to have data for X and Y axis, you put X data in one row and Y data in next row for example row A contains X axis data and row B contains Y axis data and then you select the data, both X and Y (row A and B) and then you have in upper menu plot where you choose what kind of plot you want but i can be more precise if you tell me what excell do you have (2007, 2010...)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

basically i have to make a line graph on atomic radius and atomic number and it gives me all the data i just know how to do it and i have excell 2003

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like i said you put X and Y data in rows, select the data and try to click right click on selected data and you should get an option plot a chart and then you choose what kind of chart and i sudgest you to choose line graph and then click finish...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says atomic number should be the x axis, where to i put that at in excell?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so atomic number should be in row A if its X axis...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it gives me different elements and their different atomic numbers and atomic radius

here you have tutorials so you can watch them and follow them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8O4bX7Iw9ik www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojFGMMBuoZk for each element put data in different rows... just watch tutorials especially second one...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did that put the data in, now it says data range? what is that

OpenStudy (aaronq):

easier way, get graph paper (or draw a grid on your paper) >draw axes and LABEL THEM: by convention vertical axis is y and horizontal is x plot points: (x,y) >find value of x on horizontal axis draw an imaginary line upwards >find value of y on vertical axis draw imaginary line horizontally so it intersects with the previous drawn line. draw a point on the intersection do this for every point

OpenStudy (aaronq):

in excel you can just highlight all your date and go to "chart" then choose your format for it (i.e. line, scatter, etc)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

last time i drew it and i got a zero. now im trying to do it in excel

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if your data is for axis X in column A and Y data in column B you go to A1 and click with left click and hold that left click and drag the selection area to whole data set (col. A and B) and then proceed to drawing the graph... furthermore that data in col A and B is your data range!!! so if you go trough wizard you need to click on the small icon next to the empty field and then select from table data for X and Y by highlighting the data like i said with left click holding and releasing when all data is selected...
