What happen to change peoples views and lead them to believe in continental drift?

All I can remember pretty much of the continental drift is that people had found skeletons spreaded out throughout the whole continent

Something about the climate and dirt layering, sorry that wasn't much help its been forever since I studied about continental drift.

The continental drift is basically when the earth's crust/atmosphere drift into fluid which causes continents to shift and move apart from one another.
